Do's and Don'ts for Submitting Artwork
Do's
- If copy is to be printed reversed out, set it in at least 8 point bold in a sans serif font.
- If copy is to be printed positive, set it in at least 6 point, not bold font.
- If there are technical drawings in art, make the rules at least 1 point thick. Holding rules to be minimum of 1.5 points thick.
- If there is a UPC included, try to make at least 100%, and in machine direction with a Bar Width Reduction as per spec sheet (No UPC less than 80% is acceptable).
- If a barcode is used, please indicate what version it is.
- UPCs print and scan better if they are printed on a white back up.
- Wherever possible, include artwork on disc per our specs.
- We will set up art with traps and bleeds (if desired).
- Set up art to be at least 1/4" from top and side seals. If tail load, allow 1" at bottom to seal. If top load, allow 1"' at top to seal.
- Set up art to be at least 1/8" from any perforation.
Don'ts
- If there are technical drawings in art, do not reverse out of a color, do print positive.
- Do not reverse script fonts or serif fonts, including punctuation in foreign languages, out of colors.
- Do not set up art with screens printing over other screens. The colors will never be true on press, they will look very "muddy".
